The original frame caught a flight of five mid-passage along a brackish Gulf-coast marsh — the only range where Mottled Ducks live year-round. Florida resident birds, the only subspecies that doesn’t migrate, pattern their day around tide and first light.
The cap carries that whole formation forward — five wing angles, the spacing between them, the silhouette of the lead bird. Embroidered without the rest of the frame asking to be there.
